Regeneration and downtime: the most important facts

Re-epithelialization is usually completed within about 24 hours. Redness can persist for a few days, microcrusts can be visible for 3 to 5 days. In most cases, make-up is possible again after 24 to 48 hours. Compared to the classic CO₂ resurfacing procedure, the downtime is significantly shorter, a difference that many of our patients particularly appreciate.

MultiFRAX® or microneedling: What’s the difference?

Both MultiFRAX® and microneedling pursue the goal of stimulating the body’s own collagen formation and sustainably improving the skin structure. The main difference, however, lies in the technology used.

Microneedling causes controlled micro-injuries in the skin through fine needles. MultiFRAX®, on the other hand, works with precise laser energy and combines two different wavelengths in one treatment. This allows both deeper skin layers to be stimulated to form new collagen and superficial pigment changes to be treated.

Which method is more suitable for your skin depends on your treatment goals, the condition of the skin and the existing skin changes, among other things. In a personal consultation, we will find out together which treatment best suits your needs.

MultiFRAX® or CO₂ laser: What’s the difference?

MultiFRAX® is one of the non-ablative fractional laser systems. This means that the skin surface is largely retained during treatment. As a result, the regeneration time is often shorter compared to ablative laser procedures.

At the same time, the formation of new collagen in the deeper layers of the skin is stimulated, while superficial skin changes can be treated in a targeted manner. Many patients are socially acceptable again after about 24 to 48 hours.

Why are several sessions often useful?

Skin renewal after a MultiFRAX® treatment takes place gradually. Over several weeks and months, the skin forms new collagen and elastin. As a result, skin structure, firmness and radiance continuously improve.

How many treatments are useful depends on the individual skin condition and the desired result. The following apply as a guideline:

• Maintenance & Glow: 1 to 2 sessions
• Pigmentation disorders: 2 to 4 sessions
• Scars and more intensive skin corrections: 3 to 6 sessions

We usually recommend an interval of about four weeks between each session so that the skin has enough time to regenerate.

When will the final result be visible?

Regeneration begins immediately after the treatment. The first changes, such as a fresher complexion or a slight feeling of tightening, can be visible shortly after the treatment.

However, the actual skin remodeling takes place over a longer period of time:

• In the first few days, the skin surface regenerates.
• In the following weeks, collagen and elastin production increases.
• Between the third and sixth month, skin renewal reaches its peak.

The result develops step by step and thus looks particularly natural. The skin visibly gains structure, evenness and radiance.
